This coin ring is made from a 1968 Kennedy half dollar. 1964 Kennedy half dollars are 40% silver.

The ring as shown is size 9 with a 8.6 mm band width and a natural polish finish. An aged patina finish is also available. The ring can be sized up or down, up to one full size. 

The front of the Kennedy half dollar was designed by Gilroy Roberts Chief Engraver at the U.S. Mint from 1948 to 1964 while the reverse uses the Presidential Seal designed by Frank Gasparro, U.S. Mint Chief Engraver 1965 to 1981.

In 1964, the Kennedy half dollar was composed of 90% silver and 10% copper.

From 1965 through 1970 the coins were 80% silver and 20% copper bonded to a core of 20% silver and 80% copper for a total silver content of about 40%.

From 1971 to the present, the regular issue coins are 75% copper, 25% nickel bonded to a pure copper core.
